METHODS & TREATMENTS

Deep Tissue:
When there is chronic muscle tension or injury, there are usually adhesions (bands of painful, rigid tissue) in muscles, tendons, and ligaments. Adhesions can block circulation and cause pain, limited movement, and inflammation. Deep tissue massage works by physically breaking down these adhesions to relieve pain and restore normal movement. To do this, the massage therapist often uses direct deep pressure or friction applied across or with the grain of the muscles. As pressure is applied the muscle fibers will release with the pressure given allowing it to restore to its natural state of relaxation.

MyoFascial Release and Trigger Point Therapy:

Myofascia is the "netting" around muscles that help keep it together and in place. Lighter pressure may be applied to this netting to help muscles release at a faster rate. Trigger points are described as hyperirritable spots in the fascia and skeletal muscle. They are associated with palpable nodules in taut bands of muscle fibers.[1] Your therapist will apply pressure directly to the trigger point for release of the muscle fibers; this pressure may be light or deep.

Compression of a trigger point may elicit local tenderness, referred pain, or local twitch response. The local twitch response is not the same as a muscle spasm. This is because a muscle spasm refers to the entire muscle contracting whereas the local twitch response also refers to the entire muscle but only involves a small twitch, no contraction. For more information please see Defintions and Differences.

Swedish Massage:

A relaxation technique using light to medium pressure.

Reflexology:

Reflexology, also known as zone therapy, is an alternative medicine involving application of pressure to the feet and hands with specific thumb, finger, and hand techniques without the use of oil or lotion. It is based on a system of zones and reflex areas that purportedly reflect an image of the body on the feet and hands, with the premise that such work effects a physical change to the body

Reiki:

Marsha is a Usui Reiki Master. She was trained in Dallas, TX under Miss Debbie Brock. Reiki is a Japanese word meaning Universal Life Energy. It is an ancient Japanese science of healing (see History). It involves the use of REI means universal light & KI means life force energy governing all functions in universe. This helps you heal all kinds of problem by touch or thought. By pulling energy from the universe and transferring it to you you will begin to feel more balanced with the world around you.

Sports Massage Therapy:

This is a deeper massage technique that involves stretching to increase muscle flexibility and movement.
